The technical component of an EEG consists of the people that perform the EEG. These are the people who schedule the EEG, apply the EEG wires and record the EEG using their EEG equipment.
The technical component of a patient bill is for the people’s time, the supplies (wires) and the equipment. Technical charges will come on a different bill and does not include the physician's professional fees.
The professional component of an EEG is the physician that is responsible for reading the EEG and writing a report once the EEG has been completed.
The professional component of a patient bill covers the cost of the physician’s professional services (reviewing the EEG data and writing the report). This is the fee for the physician to read and report the EEG findings.
Real Time Tele-Epilepsy Consultants (RTTC) is a group of board-certified Neurologists specializing in EEG and epilepsy. We provide expert EEG interpretations to support your doctor’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
RTTC is contracted by ambulatory EEG companies, physician clinics, and hospitals to provide interpretation of EEG tests by our board-certified Neurologists. Your bill reflects the professional component of the EEG, separate from the technical services provided by the facility or technical services company that performed your EEG. Insurance may cover a portion of the cost, depending on your plan. You are responsible for any copayments, deductibles, or non-covered charges.
